Facebook’s Inbox Gets an Upgrade - Why Not Adopt an Email System, too?
Facebook has just rolled out a major update to their Inbox function. Now you are able to search through your mailboxes - which is a big thing because you no longer have to sift through dozens of messages to find a little piece of information.

A great tool but Facebook should really look into creating a system that aggregates all your email (school, work and personal) into your facebook inbox. It’s a social utility that started with a big focus on the collegiate class… Let’s bring that back. Adopting email would make Facebook more legitimate for serious use. I understand that there are privacy concerns, but why not also integrate functionality like Gmail’s Privacy Monitor which monitors the different IP addresses that access your account? Facebook can’t merely depend on its applications to further it’s memberbase - they’ve got to continually work on the core of Facebook and give it functionality for more productive purposes so that it becomes a internet utility rather than solely a social utility.
